Approximately 8 months will pass during the duration of Airy's canon update. During that time she will learn a lot about what she is and what’s happening unseen in the world.
After running away from home, Airy ends up staying in New York with Nathan and Antonio for a little over a month. Due to the fact that she's stationary during this time she's found by a radical group of Hidden who are working to gather power so that they don't have to hide anymore. Of course, Airy didn’t know anyone was looking for her.
She is lured in by a boy from her high school named Darren. She didn’t know him well but she grew up in a town where you greet everyone and treat everyone like old friends. What Airy is unaware of is that her lack of control had negatively impacted Darren's life and he switched 'sides'. When Airy first ran away from home she convinced herself that it'd be better if no one knew she existed. By doing so she erased all evidence of herself from Island Falls Maine. This is the reason her family and friends didn't go looking for her after she ran away. However, when accidentally directed, her powers can't affect someone with a strong mind. Darren, who learns he's a mage, isn't affected and the small town condemns him for being 'crazy' whenever he talked about the Miller girl who disappeared.
She is taken and tortured for the next month and a half while Nathan and Antonio are trying to find her. The full extent of what happens to Airy is written here. [Standard torture warnings apply, please don't read if you are sensitive to mind alteration, abuse, etc.] The short version of her time being tortured is as follows.
Antonio’s father, Amadeus, is evil and he's a dick. He is a puppet for a vampire named Sunet who was born around the time of the pharaohs. Sunet orders Amadeus to find the creator and control her. Amadeus believes he's doing this so that they will be able to come out of hiding when Sunet has a far bigger plan. If he is able to control the Creator then he'll also be able to control the Druids who by their very nature must protect her. He doesn't want to kill the Creator because another would simply be born and he'd have to resume his search again. Amadeus hates humanity and would rather see them burn than using them for his own gains. He is very short sighted in his goals, unlike his puppet master.
There are a lot of technicalities and reasoning in Sunets actions. I can go into it further if needed however none of his other plans will affect Airy within these 8 months.
In order to use Airy Amadeus needs to break her. He summons a mind bender named Taila to come and tear apart every thought she’s ever had. Mind benders are a race that are decents of the Fea and humans, there are many types though they are all very rare, Taila can specifically go into someone's mind and sort through it without difficulty.
While Airy is captive they have to control her Creator abilities. To do this they use a shock collar which is turned on at random times throughout the day and night. They also strictly control her eating and sleeping schedules to keep her mind dull. Her torture spans to about 6 weeks during this length of time she is bitten by a vampire, learning that her blood poisonous to vampires. Airy is also forced to swallow an acid that strips her throat and steals her voice. The whole process is painful at first and then numbing. It's reinforced that she's a mistake, someone who was never meant to exist, and she begins to believe it as Taila slowly breaks her down. Taila's goal involves going threw every one of Airy's memories. Some are lost while others are buried. Due to this torture Airy will react strangely to specific memories as they are slowly found again. Anything involving her family usually ends in tears. There are a few things that are important to note about Airy's behavior after this. The fist is that bells scare her, Taila wears a bell on her hip and Airy has to hear it every time the woman visits her. She will also have the tendency to bury her weaknesses and try to be strong, even when she isn't able to handle a situation. She have a victims mentality believing that her capture, torture and the results of such are all her fault.
After Aity is taken, Nathan and Antonio trying to find. They discover the hidden Headquaters of what constitutes the resistance against dick faces like Amadeus, however they do not know about Sunet or his grand plan. They believe that Amadeus's goal is to destroy a leyline, using Airy to complete this task.
For the first two weeks of Airy's capture she is able to imagine a bird flying around Nathan's head. This is due to their friendship and his affect on her self image when it comes to her powers. Due to the collar and what she's experiencing, Airy isn’t able to give them more of a clue to where she is. They are only able to find her after she's been broken by Amadeus and he's moving her to the leyline.
The leyline is located in a cave around upstate New York. A team from Headquaters is sent to rescue Airy. This team consists mages, two vampires, 1 werewolf and Nathan. As they arrive Nathan rushes inside before anyone else can follow him. He is able to find easily Airy at the center of the cave. As he approaches her he sees the collar and how awful she looks. He snaps and his power as a druid awakens. He drapes himself over Airy and then burns everyone in the cave alive, except for Airy, who he's subconsciously trying to protect. Nathan then passes out. There are few casualties on the rescue teams side and after sorting out what happened the group takes both Nathan and Airy back to HQ.
Airy's healing process, which is also located in the torture link above, takes a little over a month. They heal her throat and her mind while placing shields around her head. It's a very in depth process and while she's physically healed, her emotions are unstable. Her first week after being healed she clings to Antonio. Nathan left when she was in a coma, during healing, to train his new abilities. Leaving Antonio as the only person she knows in HQ. It's during this week that Airy almost makes herself disappear. It's her friendship with Antonio and him pleading with her that he needs her that brings her back. After this, Antonio becomes something like a big brother to Airy.
Finding comfort in HQ is difficult. People call Airy the Creator and treat her as if she's the answer to all of their problems. She doesn't like it, added to the fact that all of HQ is underground. Her plan was decent, most of her watchers were vampires and as such they sleep during the day. Airy managed to purchase a bus ticking using one of Antonio's credit cards and then slips away from HQ at dawn. The one werewolf living in HQ, the cook Gus, is the one who finds out Airy's plan and follows her. Airy doesn't know Gus but she knows that he is a hot dog seller in New York city that Nathan knows from when he's a kid. She likes him, he tells a lot of dad jokes, but she doesn't know him.
The bus is just about to leave when Airy sees Gus stepped on board looking for his 'Daughter'. Airy tries to firmly tell him that she isn't coming back but Gus manages to convince her to exit the bus and get something to eat. Gus is an old dog. He's a 90 year old werewolf who's lost his six kids and wife to Amadeus twenty years ago. He's candid and honest, like most werewolves, and he tells Airy the one thing that everyone in HQ was hiding from her; her family is dead.
After capturing Airy, Amadeus sent one of his assassins, a man named Clay, to kill Airy's family and make it look like an accident. She no longer had a home to return to. After talking Gus agrees to let her go home under the stipulation that she's going to pick up some of her things and then head back to HQ. During their car ride Gus talked about his family some while giving her time to cry her heart out.
When they arrive at Airy's home is when Airy learned that she made the town forget her. After she was captured she couldn't hold the notion in her mind and the memories had quickly flooded back. It was because of this change that Amadeus sent Clay to kill Airy's family. He didn't want anyone looking for her. Gus chases away the bank who wish to speak to Airy about her parents house and things. She's over the age of 18 and everything is entailed to her. Gus threatens the men from the bank however Airy manages to get everything sorted before leaving to return to HQ with Gus. During their return Airy convinces Gus to stop by his old home in Albion NY. He hadn't returned to the house since his children and wife were killed.
This trip takes a few days however Airy and Gus eventually make it back. After Airy's escape she's now watched though she doesn't know the full extend of his protection, however she isn't allowed to leave HQ by herself. She ends up working in the kitchen with Gus a few mornings a week and the pair of them bond, as if to replace the families they both lost. She promised not to leave him and he promised to keep her safe.
Returning and living in HQ over the next few months is awkward for Airy and it slowly changes her. She doesn’t get as awkward about sex or related topics and grows more confident. She practices and lives something like a normal day to day life. Her day to day schedule for the next few months is listed at the base of the post here. It's just a rough idea of what she does and when. She keeps odd sleeping hours but she still sleeps about six hours a night.
Despite the changes in Airy over this time she continues to blame herself for everything awful that's happened to her family, to Antonio and to Nathan. She realizes that it's illogical but she feels it anyway.
Another part of adjusting to life in HQ is living underground and also living in a place with 200+ people who treat you as if you're their savior and have the answers to all of their problems. She does not have these answers and she continues to learn the depth of this new world. Slowly Airy begins to hide her uncertainties and put on a confident face to those around her. She feels like she owes it to those in HQ for all that they’ve lost and the fact that they had saved her. It’s a heavy burden and one that Airy really doesn’t like.
On Valentine’s Day Airy gets a boyfriend with a boy named Luther. Their relationship is a crutch for Airy; it gets her through a lot of horrors that fringe at the edge of her thoughts. Their relationship was mostly physical and like other in HQ Luther sees and treats her more like an object than a person; it was a learning experience for Airy. Luther controlled almost everything she did, when they went out and when they stayed in. She cares about him very much but she slowly realizes that it isn't love.
July of that year, Airy, Gus and Luther take a trip to Rome. They are searching for a book that is said to have information on Creators. A Creator hasn't existed for 1000 years and because of that no know knows very much about them. They know that the Creators made the wer-species but nothing else. During their trip, Airy breaks up with Luther; which she should probably should have waited until the end of the trip to do. The tension on the trip increased when the group was then attacked by werewolves that had the same scent as Gus's wife which suggests that she might still be alive somewhere. It's right after this attack that Airy will return to City of Sin, clinging to the book that she had found with a bloody scratched shoulder.
↠ Powers / Abilities: Her abilities do not change; however, her mind is now protected. After being broken, Airy is put back together by Seth who is a shadow mage. He’s a very powerful mind walker and he slowly pieces Airy’s mind back together while casting layers of spells over her. It helps her control her Creator abilities a little more and also prevents people from reading her mind.
