New York || Day 1
Dec. 11th, 2015 09:23 pm[Running is the current plan but it isn't going well. She's constantly getting lost and she's reminded again and again that she's never been out of her small town alone. She misses her family and her friends but more than that she is really missing a warm bed. Her feet continue forward, the tall buildings towering on either side of her. It's impressive, as far as cities go, but its to close together.
To much can go wrong.
She must of made a wrong turn because Airy finds herself walking along a very shady part of town. Winter is setting in but she thinks of warmth and she manages to keep herself heated. She has a backpack around her shoulders and it looks like she's wearing a uniform: white button down, green pleated skirt, black jacket and a matching tie. It's most definitely giving some of the people here the wrong idea.]
Shit.
[Airy whispers softly under her breath, a puff of white leaving her warm lips. When she spots two men pointing towards her she runs. Her feet fly across the street and she's about 75% sure they weren't following her. Mist descends on the area and Airy one again curses under her breath. She's only getting more lost at this rate and running around New York after midnight isn't on her to do list.]

The next morning
Date: 2016-01-23 03:21 am (UTC)I'm sure there's some theater around here who'd be glad to have you.
[But then he guided them across the last street, and his destination was in sight.]
We're almost there.
The next morning
Date: 2016-01-23 03:27 am (UTC)I highly doubt that.
[They don't want strange sets just appearing out of no where.]
The next morning
Date: 2016-01-24 03:39 am (UTC)[It's not a busy time of day, not being the usual lunch or dinner time, so Gus' cart isn't slammed. Nathan walks up smiling with a wave.]
Hey, Gus! How's the hot dog game?
[Gus, a gruff older man with more salt than pepper in his hair and beard, wearing jeans, a white t-shirt, and a Yankees ball-cap, looks up from the paper he was browsing and smiles.] Well if it isn't Nathan. Thought maybe something happened and you got too good for old Gus.
[Nathan grins.] Never. Your dogs are the best in the city, Gus. Never change.
[Gus laughs.] Never dream of it. [And then Gus seems to notice Airy.] And who's this cute little thing? Finally decide to settle down, kid?
[And Nathan goes from grinning to awkward pretty quick.] Uh...no. This is Airy. She's...a friend.
[Gus raises an eyebrow.] Uh huh...
The next morning
Date: 2016-01-24 03:46 am (UTC)Or at least she thinks she's skilled at it.]
It's nice to meet you Gus. Hot Dog's are one of my favorite foods so I'm excited to try yours.
[See changing subject because her very single and alone status is sort of a sore point and there is no way that Nathan would like her like that.]
Just no Ketchup...
[Because that's gross.]
The next morning
Date: 2016-01-24 05:02 pm (UTC)[Then he looks to Nathan.]
You still like yours the same way, kid?
[Nathan looks surprised.]
You remember how I like my hot dogs?
[Gus grins.]
This old dog remembers everything, boy.
The next morning
Date: 2016-01-24 05:12 pm (UTC)How do you like your hot dogs? Wait... when was the last time you were here?
[He made it sound like he comes here all the time.
Her gaze then pulls over to Gus as she blinks curiously.]
The next morning
Date: 2016-01-25 06:56 am (UTC)Mustard, sauerkraut, and onions. [Which he puts together while he's talking.] And the last time I saw him, he was shipping off to college. [He looks over to Nathan.] Guess you didn't have much of a reason to stop by to see old Gus after your Pops closed up shop, huh?
[Nathan takes the hotdog from Gus, thanking him and passing him a fiver, but there's a heaviness to his expression that wasn't there before.]
I didn't even know he was closing. [Gus nods with a look that clearly says Nathan doesn't have to say anything else.] I'll come by more often, I swear.
[Gus casts his piercing blue gaze from Nathan to Airy, looking slightly confused, but not asking any questions. Well, not directly.] You're busy, kid. I get it. [And the next he says to Airy.] You're not from around here, are ya, kiddo?
The next morning
Date: 2016-01-25 02:05 pm (UTC)She takes a bite of her hot dog and lets the juicy wonderment of food fill her mouth. It probably is the best hot dog she's ever had. She silently wonders why Nathan would bring her here after so long and then there is a more tentative thought that's worried at the topic of his father.
But Gus seems nice and Airy already likes him.]
Ah, no. I'm just passing through. I'm from Maine.
[For now she's going to keep things vague however she looks up at Nathan with a sheepish smile on her lips.]
Can I have a second one? [She's still broke and she wants to try it with onions and mustard.]
The next morning
Date: 2016-01-27 09:43 pm (UTC)Thought I heard New England in ya, kiddo. [His eyes flit to Nathan for a moment before he smiles and starts dressing another hotdog.] Anything special?
[All Nathan can do is laugh, though, and shake his head. Of course Gus would just assume he'd pay for another one. He probably assumed this was a date or something.
...maybe it was.]
The next morning
Date: 2016-01-27 09:49 pm (UTC)[She smiles brightly taking Gus's permission as law.]
New England? I've been told I have an accent but I don't know what it is.
[She listens to herself all the time, it just sounds normal.
Airy finally turns back to Nathan as if she had been ignoring him. Her smile is a little bit sheepish.] Thanks and you were right.
[Best. Hot dogs. Ever.]
The next morning
Date: 2016-01-29 01:33 am (UTC)Is that right? [Gus chuckles.] And he was right about what?
That you have the best hotdogs in the City. [Nathan smirked in Gus' direction.]
Shucks, kid. You're gonna make me blush.
[And Nathan laughs.]
Is that even possible?
The next morning
Date: 2016-01-29 01:45 am (UTC)[Airy's voice is light and teasing as she looks between the pair. She can tell that they are good friends and even if they haven't seen each other for a while it doesn't show. She suddenly really misses Maine: Mark and Sara. Her stomach drops but she tries to hide the expression from her face.
Instead she focuses on her second hot dog. She then decides that onions and mustard are the best.]
The next morning
Date: 2016-01-29 02:00 am (UTC)Nah, you kids look like you've got other places to be. You know where to find me.
[And he gives Nathan a wink before waving them away.]
Go on, get out of here.
[Nathan chuckles but can take the hint.]
Alright, alright, Gus. I'll see you around.
[Gus nods.]
You'd better, if ya know what's good for ya.
[Nathan gives Gus a mock salute and turns to walk away, still shaking his head, but looking over to Airy to make sure she's coming.]
The next morning
Date: 2016-01-29 02:05 am (UTC)If you haven't seen him in so long why are we leaving so soon?
[Besides the fact that Airy would probably keep eating hot dogs while they stood their. The hot dog made her feel better and slowly more like herself.
For the moment she even felt normal.]
The next morning
Date: 2016-01-29 02:11 am (UTC)Damn right, I am. Go on. Get out of here. I've got other customers to take care of, anyway.
[Gus waved, as though that final gesture was enough to explain everything else he'd said.]
...okay. [And with that, Nathan shoved his hands in his pockets, having finished his hotdog, and started off down the sidewalk.]
Sorry. Gus has always been a little weird.
The next morning
Date: 2016-01-29 02:18 am (UTC)That's fine. Where are we heading now?
[She doesn't remember the plans except hot dogs and now, even after her hot dog is gone, she can't stop thinking about it. She misses her hot dog.]
The next morning
Date: 2016-01-29 02:36 am (UTC)The next morning
Date: 2016-01-29 02:43 am (UTC)Airy looks over at him before tossing out the wrapper to her hot dog in a trash can and wiping her fingers on a napkin.]
That depends how much you want your shirt back.
[Hers is sorta ruined.]
Otherwise; Zoo.
The next morning
Date: 2016-02-06 01:58 pm (UTC)I think it looks good on you. Keep it.
[And he smiles.]
So let's get back to the car so we can get to the zoo.
The next morning
Date: 2016-02-06 03:28 pm (UTC)When he mentions the Zoo she decides to focus on that. Her bright emerald green eyes look up at him and she takes a small step closer as the crowds once again thicken. At least she knows the way back to the car this time.]
What sort of animals are there? Are there pandas? [Because she's never seen panda's.] Or whales? [Because that would be cool too.]
The next morning
Date: 2016-02-08 03:38 am (UTC)[The walk back to his car is a shorter one, foot traffic heading further into the shopping district rather than out. When they arrived, he opened the car door for her.]
We get to cross the bridge again.
The next morning
Date: 2016-02-08 03:54 am (UTC)[She's glad the walk back to the car is quick. However, Airy isn't used to people holding the door open for her so she smiles and quickly ducks inside the car before her cheeks flush bright red.]
Oh neat.
[Not that bridges are that interesting but it means a long drive.]
The next morning
Date: 2016-02-08 09:24 pm (UTC)Tell you what. The stereo is yours.
The next morning
Date: 2016-02-08 09:44 pm (UTC)She doesn't know any of the stations so she excitedly begins to flip through them pausing for a few seconds and then continuing through her search. After a moment a song comes on and Airy almost jumps in her seat in excitement. She glances over at Nathan with a sheepish grin.]
I like this song.
[As the song begins Airy mouths the words and begins to sway to the music in her seat. She's a little too shy to sing with someone else in the car but she can't deny how much she likes this song.]
The next morning
Date: 2016-02-08 11:50 pm (UTC)Rhianna, huh?
