Airy Miller: Dear phone, this is super lame but I have no where else private to write. ANYWAY, I met two guys today. We'll call them T and N. I know that's stupid but talking to myself via text isn't much better.

Airy Miller: I don't know what I'm doing but I'm staying with them...

Airy Miller: T is nice and he answers all my stupid questions but he's only awake at night.

Airy Miller: N... is really confusing me. It's a shame guys like that don't fall for girls like me.

Airy Miller: This is stupid I'm going to stop now. More so since T let me on his phone plan so I have the internet again.

Airy, listen to me: don't go out in the fog. It does -- it does sommat like the the flowers do. And listen, I -- I'm sorry, but I ran into Widowmaker. B-but I'm back in the castle now. I am gonna take a very long shower, and however long you don't wanna touch me for, it's totally fine.

OKay.

[She takes a deep breath before steadying her voice.]

I learned about the fog. [A beat.] Sorta recently. I'd like to talk about this. Can we meet in the baths? Um... Spring Wing. [Just because Widowmaker will not be there.] I'll grab us a spot out of the way.

I want to talk in person. I also want to bathe as much as I want you too.

You — you wanna talk right now? Right this minute?

[He isn’t sure he wants her to see him right now.]

I guess it can be later.

[She pauses and exhales again.]

You don't want to see me right now... do you? [That hurt more than Airy had expected.]

[She might be able to imagine the way his face screws up at the question.]

It’s not that, love. I promise. I don’t... I don’t know if I want ya to see me right now. I mean, it just bloody happened just now, you understand that?

[She's said that she hates Widowmaker. This isn’t Cassidy’s most logical moment, but he can’t help feeling like the encounter left some sort of residue on him. What if Airy smells it, and decides she hates him now too?

...on the other hand, he can’t insist after hearing that tone in her voice. He’ll give her one more chance.]

...do you wanna meet right now? If ya still want to, I’ll do it.

We can meet tomorrow if you want...[Airy doesn't sound particularly happy about it though.

She pauses while trying to figure out how she feels about it. In the end, she isn't sure and she ends up slightly altering the conversation with what might sound like a random question.]

What are you going to do now or tonight?

Like I said. Have a wash, and then... then, then I don't know.

[And that's a point. What would he do, after the initial rinse-off, other than sit around and stew about it?]

Gimme... [How long? They don't exactly have an actual way of telling time around here.] ...ten minutes to myself, all right? And then I'll be on me way over. Spring Wing, baths. I'll see ya there.

[Airy feels a little uncertain, like she's forcing Cassidy to meet with her, but she tries to push those feelings away. Things are already complicated without her weird feelings making it worse.]

Okay. I'll be there. Take your time though, if you need more than ten minutes. I'll wait.

[Her tone is warm though try as Airy might, she can't erase the hint of sadness in her tone.]

[ooc: if you wanna reply to this with a small goodbye then I can change it to Action since Airy will get there first.]

[Was that the right time to say that? It felt like it. Even if it came out flatter and sadder than usual.

He's just going to take that shower now.]

I love you too Cassidy.

[There is nothing but warmth and affection in her voice as Airy closes the tome and the line goes dead. She can hear the diminished tone to his voice and she can't help but wonder if he's trying to convince himself that he loves her. A nervous flutter twists in her chest but once again Airy pushes it away.

It's a bump. They've had a lot of them... some worse than this.

Airy strips and slips into her robe. She grabs some of the soaps and oils that she'd gotten from the spa and tosses them in a basket with a towel. She then tosses a whiskey bottle in the basket for good measure and heads to the baths.

While waiting, Airy washes everything and then leans against the edge of the bath. She's off to the side, nearly hidden by a twisting cherry blossom tree at the fair left of the bathing area. Little pink flower petals float around her making her look as if she's posing for a paint. Airy's eyes are closed, her basket close to her head while little silky wisps of her hair float around her shoulders. She's listening for Cassidy and her eyes flutter open at the first echo of sound.]

[He doesn't take as long as he might have otherwise, but it probably is longer than ten minutes. Enough time to get to the Winter baths, have a good rinse-off with some soap, then head over to Spring with one towel wrapped around his waist and another draped over his shoulders. He carries his clothes bundled up in one hand, lets his shoes dangle from the other.

He can't deny that seeing her melts away most of the tension in his chest... until he remembers that he's here so they can talk, and then some of it creeps back.

Not all of it. Only some.

She'll likely be able to hear his footsteps on the stone. He gives her a little nod when she opens her eyes, then puts his clothes down on the edge of the edge of the bath and sets about dropping the towels so he can slide into the water near her.]

[Airy opens her eyes as the soft echo of footsteps and smiles when she see's Cassidy coming around the pool of water towards her little corner. She realizes what has happened and it doesn't sit well with her but seeing Cassidy always brings a warm smile to her lips.]

Hey.

[She waits until he lowers himself into the warm water before sliding next to him and wrapping her arms around his shoulders. She's sitting a little off to the side, her right hip pressing against his left hip, while her face buries in the curve of his neck. He smells like soap and weed but she doesn't pick up anything else.]

I love you Cassie. Nothing about this stupid place is going to change that. Okay?

[The situation isn't ideal but she doesn't blame Cassidy for it and she wants to make that very very clear.]

[He slips an arm around her waist, and leans his head over toward hers. The water's warm. She's warmer.]

Okay — okay, you were right. [All the fretting he'd been doing ten minutes ago... if they hadn't met up, he'd still be in the midst of it.] I needed this.

[He turns his head, presses his lips briefly to her hairline.]

I love you, too. [This time, it doesn't sound like he's trying to remind — or convince — anyone.]

[Airy holds him tight and smiles against his shoulder.] I thought so. [Her voice drifts away and for a moment or two there was only the echoes of rippling water bouncing off the stone walls.

She let herself enjoy the pressure of his arms around her waist and the feel of his body against hers. Things were complicated here, she hated Widowmaker and that Cassidy had done things with her again, but it's in the past and all she can do is move forward.] I needed this too.

[She shifts her hips so she's sitting next to him but also turned in such a way that she can also face him.]

I know we've talked about a lot of stuff and I get angry and jealous but I don't want you to think that anything can easily come between us. We'll talk and figure it out because- you're worth it.

[ooc: I'm fuzzy on the timeline but I assume this is before Airy runs into Widowmaker since I'm still threading it out?]

[She really believes that -- that he's worth it. She might be able to feel his shoulders relax as he shifts, a little more of that tension dispersing.]

Honestly, I thought you'd be way more angry about this, actually.

I am angry but I'm not angry at you.

[Airy rests her palms against him, letting her fingers run over his skin.]

Can I ask what happened exactly? You said it was the mist. I guess there isn't a way out of it?

[It's something she's thought about since her first run in with the mist though she hadn't thought it was actually the mist.]

I've no idea how long I was out there, tryin' to find me way back. I had no clue where I was... then, there she was... [He trails off for a second, wondering how exact she really wants him to be.]

We were just smokin' and talkin' for the first couple moments, but then we -- well, we both acknowledged what was goin' on when we realized we couldn't keep off each other...

[And he still feels guilty. Because no matter why it happened, Widowmaker was one of the few people Cassidy had marked down on his personal No Fly List. Yet here he is again.]

And right when it was over -- soon as it was done, the fog cleared. I could see the way back to the castle.

I guess... there isn't any waiting it out?

[She wonders if he'd even really tried and while she wants to ask, Airy also doesn't want the answer. It hurts. It's never going to stop hurting but it's a pain that she supposes she has to get used too. There will always be complications and Airy can only hope that the warmth can out weight the pain.

She just wishes it didn't feel so sharp.]

I don't really want to know the details.

[Airy's trying to become a better liar but her thoughts and feelings are still obviously painted across her features. She doesn't want to think of Cassidy enjoying anything with that woman, even if Airy knew from personal experience that it's difficult not too.]

[What has she heard? She already knew about the fog, somehow. She hasn't said, yet, whether it was from personal experience or not.]

[Airy pauses, uncertainty knotting at her core.]

I haven't actually heard a lot of things...

[She looks down at the water and continues speaking.]

I got trapped in the mist a few days ago. I was training and I didn't think about it and... well, eventually I couldn't ignore the mist. No matter how hard I tried. It didn't really feel like it was me, except that it was.

You know what it’s like, then. How it pulls on ya til you can’t stop yourself...

[He trails off, not liking how much it sounds like an excuse, but... she knows. So maybe it’s not so much an excuse as a reason. Hopefully.]

I know... I hadn't even realized it until... well it felt like it was too late. I couldn't really control myself.

[They haven't really talked about their past partners or slips and Airy falters when Cassidy asks. Not that she's against telling him but she hasn't had the practice talking about this kind of thing.]

I don't know if you've met him. He's new. His name is Mordred. He'd been helping me control my powers more because he knows a lot about magic. [She chews briefly at her lower lip before continuing.] We've talked and he knows about you and everything. We sort of decided to pretend it hadn't happened so we can still be friends.

[It's awkward.]

[In the wake of all this Widowmaker stuff, that's Concern Number One.]

A little. I have a few small bruises on my side but I didn't tell him about it. It was the first time something like that mist happened to him and afterwards he was really freaked out.

[Airy doesn't want to go into details since Mordred hadn't exactly looked comfortable with all of it.]

He took care of me afterwards. Like, got me water and made sure I was okay and apologized a lot.

[It's actually the first time someone has shown that much care to Airy after the fairies weird games or maybe even after sex in general. It isn't something Airy's ever compared before but he'd been more than amiable and attentive.]

What about you? Are you okay? [She can't imagine that Widowmaker is as rough with Cassidy as she is with Airy but it's worth asking. Besides emotional whiplash, Cassidy heals well from physical things making it hard for Airy to tell.]

[Bruises will fade, and people who are otherwise gentle can get carried away in the moment. What's more reassuring is her description of how Mordred behaved afterwards. Cassidy may not love the thought of some random man's hands on Airy, but at least Mordred was a gentleman about it. If and when they meet, Cassidy will make an effort to show there's no hard feelings.

But now Airy is turning the conversation back onto him.] Yeah, I'm fine... [Considering the circumstances. That counts for something, right?]

It's just, of all the people I coulda run into out there, it had to be bloody Miss Orc Sword. And I tried tellin' her -- you keep on after me girlfriend like this, you do sommat else to hurt her, you and me are gonna have a real problem... don't see as it made any sorta difference, though.
