imaginationswoes | New York || Day 1

[Running is the current plan but it isn't going well. She's constantly getting lost and she's reminded again and again that she's never been out of her small town alone. She misses her family and her friends but more than that she is really missing a warm bed. Her feet continue forward, the tall buildings towering on either side of her. It's impressive, as far as cities go, but its to close together.

To much can go wrong.

She must of made a wrong turn because Airy finds herself walking along a very shady part of town. Winter is setting in but she thinks of warmth and she manages to keep herself heated. She has a backpack around her shoulders and it looks like she's wearing a uniform: white button down, green pleated skirt, black jacket and a matching tie. It's most definitely giving some of the people here the wrong idea.]

Shit.

[Airy whispers softly under her breath, a puff of white leaving her warm lips. When she spots two men pointing towards her she runs. Her feet fly across the street and she's about 75% sure they weren't following her. Mist descends on the area and Airy one again curses under her breath. She's only getting more lost at this rate and running around New York after midnight isn't on her to do list.]

Yeah, I mean, I've had cuts and scrapes before.

[He looks up to her, uncertain.]

Hey...do you want me to take you to a doctor instead?

[Airy shakes her head and then swallows the lump in her throat.]

No... I can't be found. Just bind it tightly so the tissue is close together and it can scare.

[She absently wonders if this will be a problem when Antonio wakes up. She has no idea how heavy of a sleeper he is.]

[He nods, not liking where this is going, but not really having a choice in the matter, either.

He sets about getting some anesthetic to clean the wound, first.]

This might sting a little.

[Airy looks up at him and doesn't look happy.]

It already stings.

[She swallows trying to steel herself from what comes next. Her free hand clamps against the edge of the counter as she braces herself. She doesn't want to scream but she is a normal girl and it's used to this kind of pain.]

I'm ready.

[Nathan isn't so sure, but he wets a piece of gauze and starts about cleaning her wound, already wincing at the pain he's going to cause her.]

[Airy lets her head fall to the counter and bites her lip. She can taste the copper taste of blood in her mouth as pained moans fall from her lips.

This really sucks.]

Can't you work faster? Please?

[Her tone is soft as if she's begging him to make it stop hurting.]

Well, yeah, but I don't want to hurt you any more than I already am.

[He does his best, though.]

[Airy chances looking up at Nathan. She is close to tears and her teeth are digging into her lower lip as she holds back her tears.]

It feels like my arm is on fire.

[She really isn't used to pain.]

[He nods, grimacing right along with her.]

I know. It'll be over soon, though.

[Airy is trying not to set things on fire but it burns. Like every nerve ending is being stripped and grated along a rough surface. Fire appears in her thoughts but she quickly tries to hold it back.

Each movement of his fingers cause emotions to push higher. Her heartbeat frantically keeping a quick rhythm in her chest while the burning trails up to her shoulder and then down to her fingertips. Airy slowly begins to chant beneath her breath trying to control herself as he finished bandaging her arm.]

Cool... it's cold. Rain... not fire.

[Nathan started reaching for the first aid kit to get some aspirin when the first droplets of rain started to fall.

In the apartment.

Shit.]

Airy, hey. Look. Airy, it's raining.

[His voice snaps her eyes open and she looks up feeling the soft cold drops of water hit against her cheek. She feels a tear fall and then the rain beings to pick up.]

W-what?

[It feels like cold daggers against her skin and she looks over at Nathan.]

Sorry...again.

[Except this time she doesn't feel to bad because she can at least cry about her arm without him noticing.]

Airy, you're gonna flood the apartment. You have to do...something.

[She hasn't realized that the rain got that bad. She closes her eyes trying to dismiss the feeling of her clothes matting to her skin or the heavy weight of her hair.

Slowly the rain began to stop and Airy leans against the counter feeling herself drained. She's still wet but the floor is dry. It's hard to imagine yourself not wet when you feel it against your skin.]

It's gone.

[Her voice is soft and she looks down at her arm where Nathan had bandaged her bite. There are little specs of red that bleed to the outside of it but not as much as she thought there would be.]

So. [He looks around, surprised the apartment is fine.] You need some practice.

Yeah [That is putting it mildly.

Airy looks around still feeling like a drowned rat. She pushes long strands of dark brown from her sight before looking over at Nathan with bright green eyes. She spares a single glance towards her backpack but it is fine.]

Can I have a towel?

[It's winter and she hadn't been able to dry herself off. As neat as it was to watch beads of water collect over her skin she's starting to get cold.]

[He nods, running off to fetch the closest towel.]

So...why'd the rain stop but...you're still wet?

Thanks.

[Airy holds out her hand and grabs the towel before attempting to dry her hair.]

It's hard to imagine myself as dry when I feel wet.

[Technically she should be able to make her wound vanish to. She peeks out from under the towel looking up the stairs.]

I didn't wake him... right?

Antonio's a hard guy to wake up when the sun's up, Airy. I think it's fine.

[That made perfect sense, really, about the wet.]

Are you going to be okay?

Oh, good.

[Airy pauses in her attempts to dry herself and looks up at Nathan.]

It's just water.

[Except it's also winter outside. Airy shift suddenly feeling uncomfortable.]

You don't happen to have anything I can borrow to wear do you? [Like if some random girl left a perfectly fine set of clothes over who happens to be Airy sized.] I only have one other set of clothes and it's dirty.

I...might have a t-shirt that would fit you.

[It'll be his, but it's better than nothing, right? He heads upstairs to retrieve the shirt and he isn't gone long, bringing back a "Celebrate Broadway" t-shirt in gray.]

[Airy waits for him to return and then smiles before taking the offered shirt. She headed towards the bathroom feeling a little embarrassed. The last thirty minutes hadn't gone as she thought they might.

She is in the bathroom for five minutes before she steps out in Nathan's shirt and a dark green short plaid skirt. It's the last of her clothing with both undershirts, her over shirt and her shorts now dirty or ruined. She fidgets nervously with her wet clothes wrapped up in the towel so she doesn't get wet.

Wearing Nathan's shirt means she can't stop smelling him which is strange; at least he smells nice.]

You don't have a laundry machine up here do you?

[He nods, motioning toward folding doors at the back of the kitchen.]

We're pretty good at self-sufficiency around here.

[He watched her as she moved. There was something about seeing a girl wearing your clothes that made a man feel good about himself, and she didn't look back in it, either.]

[Airy nods and turns towards the doors that he's indicated. She doesn't notice him watching her and instead begins to think about how long it'll take to do laundry. when she opens the doors she stares realizing that this washer and drier have a lot more buttons than her own. That doesn't deter her though, she loads her clothing into the wash and then glances back at Nathan.

Her thin fingers lightly pull at the hem of the shirt she's borrowing.]

You're machine has a lot of buttons. Does it have a delicate cycle?

[Since everything is in there, including the stained ripped white shirt, she wants to make sure it's washed but not destroyed.]

[He chuckles, moving behind her to squeeze into the small space occupied by their laundry equipment. She was small, so it wasn't too difficult, but it still brought the two of them very close to one another.]

Yeah, here. Let me show you.

[To reach the washer, he had to lean close enough she could feel his warm breath on her neck.]
