imaginationswoes | New York || Day 1

[Running is the current plan but it isn't going well. She's constantly getting lost and she's reminded again and again that she's never been out of her small town alone. She misses her family and her friends but more than that she is really missing a warm bed. Her feet continue forward, the tall buildings towering on either side of her. It's impressive, as far as cities go, but its to close together.

To much can go wrong.

She must of made a wrong turn because Airy finds herself walking along a very shady part of town. Winter is setting in but she thinks of warmth and she manages to keep herself heated. She has a backpack around her shoulders and it looks like she's wearing a uniform: white button down, green pleated skirt, black jacket and a matching tie. It's most definitely giving some of the people here the wrong idea.]

Shit.

[Airy whispers softly under her breath, a puff of white leaving her warm lips. When she spots two men pointing towards her she runs. Her feet fly across the street and she's about 75% sure they weren't following her. Mist descends on the area and Airy one again curses under her breath. She's only getting more lost at this rate and running around New York after midnight isn't on her to do list.]

"And not burnt"? Did you think I was going to burn it? What do you take me for?

[A bachelor who lives with another guy on a strictly platonic level. They weren't exactly known for being good at things like that.]

[She points to the refrigerator which now has a bird on it again. It's a white bird this time and it flies over to the counter they were eating on.]

You were looking at the bird. [Whoops.] Sorry...

[There is a moment where Airy is silent as she waves the bird away with an annoyed hand.]

You are a good cook and yeah I was surprise. [Another whoops.] What else are you good at? [That way she wouldn't be surprised.]

Well, acting. I can do that pretty well. [His eyes followed the bird as it flitted away from her hand.]

And I can sing...and uh, dance. I went to school for theater.

[Airy can barely walk in a straight line let alone dance. Her eyes begins to shimmer when he mentions singing and dancing.]

Oh can I see? Well... see and hear?

[She is very average at most of the things she does.]

[He laughs, looking around the living room from the kitchen.]

What, like, right now?

[Airy bites into her sausage with a smile.]

Sure.

[Why not now? It isn't as if anyone else is going to hear.]

Unless you don't want too.

[She won't make him.]

[Well, Antonio did have minor sound dampening in his walls and door, because sensitive vampire ears make it hard to sleep in the city.

Nathan shrugs.]

What do you want to hear? Do...you know showtunes?

[Airy knows more show tunes than she cares to admit.]

Wicked, dancing through life.

[She finishes her sausage and begins to tackle her eggs and milk.]

Or pick a song you really like.

Okay, so, I've never auditioned for Wicked, so I don't know it well enough to sing it.

[He looks thoughtful as he starts collecting dishes.]

What about Mister Cellophane? I always felt bad for that guy.

[Airy let's out a short laugh before standing and attempting to help with the dishes.]

Okay.

[Without food to focus on, she's back to keeping her mind calm and her imagination inside her head.]

[It's a fairly simple dance number, Mr. Cellophane, and he hadn't gotten the part because he'd been too young for the part of Amos, but it was still a good number.

He takes a moment to shake himself out, it's early but now that he's eaten he feels better about the idea of singing.]

Okay, so, never tried this a Capella, so here we go.

[Once the dishes are placed in the sink Airy takes a seat at the small counter. Her backpack is still tuck beneath the chair but her bright green eyes are watching Nathan with interest.

She had seen plays that had been turned into movies but she's never actually seen someone act in real life before. School plays don't really count. Acting is an amazing skill and one that she would never posses. She wondered why Nathan would take the job as a vampire's double but before her thoughts could sink to far away she stopped them and focuses on Nathan himself.]

[Once he was finished, on one knee with jazz hands, and looks over to her, smiling.]

Well?

[Airy's smile is wide as he performs and at the end she's clapping wildly.]

That was amazing!

[He laughs, standing and shaking his head.]

I don't know about "amazing", but thanks.

[And then he says the rest having turned into the character that is Christopher Walken.]

You now, amazing would be something with a little more...drama, and maybe more cowbell.

[Airy is about to convince him to accept her compliment when his accent changed. She burst into fits of laughter and accidentally falls out of the high chair she had been sitting in.

She crashes hard to the ground in a small tangle of limbs, her musical laughter still carrying over the room.]

[Laughing, because that's the appropriate thing to do in this situation, Nathan moves to her side to check on her.]

Hey, are you okay?

[Airy has to push a small mess of brown hair out of her eyes as she dislodges her leg with the metal legs of her chair.]

Yeah. [She's smiling brightly.]

I can't remember the last time I laughed that hard.

[She stays on the floor for a moment before attempting to stand.]

[He reaches down to help her up, glad to see she's alright.]

Well, I'm glad I could help. I guess I'm good at that, too.

[Airy's thin fingers rest in Nathan's as she takes his hand and lifts her from the ground. She's still smiling though she's managed to control her laughter. Once standing she carefully tucks her hair behind her ear and smooths out her black shorts.

Her a moment she just looks up at Nathan but as seconds ticked by she felt a rising awkwardness.]

Ah, you're good at a lot of things.

[She's already notice that he's good at putting himself down.

The more she thought the more Airy realized that she had to figure out what she was going to do. She feels a little bad for leaving now, more so after Nathan went through so much trouble to make her feel at ease. At the very least she wants to say thank you to Antonio and maybe ask him about a place to go since he's far more well traveled than she is. There is however at least 8 hours of day light that she has to fill with something.]

[He chuckles.] I'm good at a lot of things, huh? But you've known me for less than an hour. How do you know it's a lot?

[He lets her hand go, at least, because holding it had gotten a little weird. Her fingers were cute, though, small and thin.]

[Airy continues to smile as he drops her hand and shakes her head.]

It's more than me. I'm pretty average at everything.

[It isn't as if she's trying to put herself down, only Airy has never tried really hard at anything. She hasn't taken a skill and attempted to perfect it or even focused heavily on one thing. She does a little bit of everything and while she isn't particular horrible at anything she doesn't excel either.]

I know that you at least have 5 things you are good at.

Oh yeah? What have you tried to do?

[He hadn't been a gifted actor or anything. He'd just really wanted it. He'd poured all of himself into it for a long time. That was the only reason he was any good at it.]

Now I'm curious.

[Airy fidgets uncomfortably under Nathans gaze. She isn't good at lying and she isn't good at talking about herself.]

You'll think it's stupid.

[She looks up at Nathan and then sighs feeling defeated without him saying a word.]

Okay, I'll tell you one... drawing.

[Airy doesn't always stick to the things she tires.]
