imaginationswoes | New York || Day 1

[Running is the current plan but it isn't going well. She's constantly getting lost and she's reminded again and again that she's never been out of her small town alone. She misses her family and her friends but more than that she is really missing a warm bed. Her feet continue forward, the tall buildings towering on either side of her. It's impressive, as far as cities go, but its to close together.

To much can go wrong.

She must of made a wrong turn because Airy finds herself walking along a very shady part of town. Winter is setting in but she thinks of warmth and she manages to keep herself heated. She has a backpack around her shoulders and it looks like she's wearing a uniform: white button down, green pleated skirt, black jacket and a matching tie. It's most definitely giving some of the people here the wrong idea.]

Shit.

[Airy whispers softly under her breath, a puff of white leaving her warm lips. When she spots two men pointing towards her she runs. Her feet fly across the street and she's about 75% sure they weren't following her. Mist descends on the area and Airy one again curses under her breath. She's only getting more lost at this rate and running around New York after midnight isn't on her to do list.]

[Airy moves over to the counter and takes up the seat at the end. She lightly drops her bag to the floor and rests her elbows on the counter before putting her chin in her palms.

When he mention his figure she can't help but look at his chest before dropping her eyes over to the food that's searing in the pan. She can't figure out if he's kidding or not and so she lets the comment hang in the air before finally answering his last question. It appears as if she's thinking pretty hard about it.]

I don't know yet.

[She's still figuring out where.]

I don't really know where anything is.

[However she has a map in her bag which is good enough for her.

By this point she's very proud of herself for keeping her imagination in check. Except while the food cooks her mind begins to wander. There is a slight breeze filled with the fresh smell of cut grass and greenery. It reminds her of the weekends when her father would cut the grass and her mother would make breakfast. Birds appeared around the kitchen chirping softly.]

[Even though he was half asleep still, something brought his attention to the birds and the cut grass and he looked around, growing more confused as he took things in.]

...so...you see the birds, right?

[Airy bites her lower lip as she turns towards the refrigerator which has a particularly happy blue bird chirping at it's top. Yeah... she sees it.

The smell of fresh cut grass fills her nose and she realizes that her attempts at being discrete has failed.]

Not anymore...

[She forces the birds to vanish and the smell to receded so it's just sizzling meat and eggs filling the kitchen.]

Sorry...[Guess Antonio didn't tell him.]

[He turns from the stove top, spatula still in hand, and points toward the refrigerator with it, eyebrows raised.]

So...was that magic? Real magic? You do magic?

I guess?

[She sounds a little unsure. It's the only magic she's ever seen either and she's only met one vampire who is currently asleep upstairs.]

I can't really control it. [She admits lamely.]

Wow. [Smooth, Nathan. He looked back over his shoulder at the sausage and turned back to the stove.]

So, you do magic on accident?

[Her heart begins to beat at a regular rhythm when he finally turns back towards the food. She's really hungry and she doesn't want him to burn it. If he doesn't it most likely means take out.]

Ah... yeah...

[Airy feels really awkward and fidgets in her seat for a moment.]

If I imagine it... it happens. Which is why I was going to head out quickly. [Before Antonio could takes sense into her.]

Your mind must wander a lot. [He smiles, even though his back is to her.] But hey, no big deal.

It's pretty rude to just jet, though. I mean, he gave you a bed.

[A heavy sigh leaves her lips and her head falls to the counter top.]

I know.

[She is very aware that her mind wanders and that it'd be rude to leave with saying goodbye.]

But he won't be up until the suns down... you know I'm walking everywhere right?

[Walking in the dark seems like a bad idea after last night.]

[He shakes his head and turns to the bar long enough to slide the note Antonio had left him in his tight cursive script. "There is a girl in the guest room. Treat her well. -A"]

No, he didn't mention that.

[And then he goes back to cooking.]

But I think I know him well enough to know he'd say something like, [And he slips into a voice that sounds exactly like Antonio like slipping on a glove] "You've no where to go, and we've the extra room. Stay a while. It really is no bother".

[Airy blinks and looks up at Nathan in a look of complete surprise.]

It's sorta spooky how you can sound just like him.

[He'd flash that stupid cute smile and pull out logic that she can't really argue against.]

I also don't want to put you out.

[Since Nathan will have to deal with her more often than Antonio. As she moves her long dark hair falls over her shoulder. The green ribbon that she had hurried to put in had fallen out and her hair is framing her cheeks again. It's annoying that she forgot her hair clips at home.]

[He shakes his head as he pulls down plates from the cupboard and places them along the counter to begin loading them.]

So, Tony didn't tell you anything about me either.

[He loads the plates and turns to put them on the bar.] I work for him.

Orange juice?

Milk?

[She asks hopefully looking down at the plate with a bright smile. Airy's eyes shine like emeralds as she looks at the food. It seriously looks and smells amazing.]

Nope. He just said he lived with someone who was male and human. [And he wasn't dating them but Airy is just going to leave that embarrassing fact out. She already sounded weird in front of Antonio.

As he finishes getting things together she watches him. Her eyes wandering over his face which is far to cute to be real. Then she realizes she's staring and looks down at her food.]

Nice. That old guy is an asshole. [But he says it with a smile as he gets the milk and a glass.]

He's an architect. I play him during the day. [He grins.] I'm an actor.

[Airy forgets everything she had been thinking and her eyes light up.]

I guess that's why you're so cute?

[She hadn't meant to say that and so she focuses on the glass of milk as he hands it over to her. It's cold and it's comforting to hold.]

I mean... you're cute and an actor... that's amazing.

[Airy can't even lie let alone act.]

[He looks surprised at her comment, because, well, he's had girls check him out before, he's been out, only not recently, but hes never really had a girl put it quite like that.]

Uh, well, not really. I mean, not in New York. Actors are a dime a dozen around her.

I'm from Maine.

[Her tone is very matter of fact. She knows nothing about New York except for what she learned last night.]

But I think you should just accept the compliment.

[Airy then focuses on her food, starting with the piece of toast on her plate. Her imagination never goes crazy when she's eating so she's focusing pretty hard on that toast.]

[Her response stunned him into silence and he didn't say anything for a moment, instead just going about eating his eggs and sausage. He hadn't expected something that direct for the girl who'd been meekly sitting here watching him cook just a moment ago, and he liked it.

That attitude. He liked it a lot.]

[Airy is blunt which is why she doesn't have many friends. It's a little awkward for a few minutes while they eat but after the first few bites her expression brightens.]

It's is really good and not burnt. [Which she thought might happen.]

"And not burnt"? Did you think I was going to burn it? What do you take me for?

[A bachelor who lives with another guy on a strictly platonic level. They weren't exactly known for being good at things like that.]

[She points to the refrigerator which now has a bird on it again. It's a white bird this time and it flies over to the counter they were eating on.]

You were looking at the bird. [Whoops.] Sorry...

[There is a moment where Airy is silent as she waves the bird away with an annoyed hand.]

You are a good cook and yeah I was surprise. [Another whoops.] What else are you good at? [That way she wouldn't be surprised.]

Well, acting. I can do that pretty well. [His eyes followed the bird as it flitted away from her hand.]

And I can sing...and uh, dance. I went to school for theater.

[Airy can barely walk in a straight line let alone dance. Her eyes begins to shimmer when he mentions singing and dancing.]

Oh can I see? Well... see and hear?

[She is very average at most of the things she does.]

[He laughs, looking around the living room from the kitchen.]

[Airy bites into her sausage with a smile.]

Sure.

[Why not now? It isn't as if anyone else is going to hear.]

Unless you don't want too.

[She won't make him.]
